Throughout A Course in Miracles, Jesus promises us the wonderful future that awaits us when we follow his gentle guidance: If you but knew…. The workshop is divided into three sections that reflect the categories of these statements. The first centers on forgiveness, and describes our peace when we practice our daily lessons, and how beautiful the world will look when seen through the eyes that have forgiven sin. The second describes the joy that comes when we walk with the Holy Spirit, having chosen Him as the Teacher of peace instead of the ego’s teachings on fear and pain. An interlude precedes the third section and briefly discusses our resistance to accepting these promises, born of the fear of losing our self. The final group of promises reminds us of our Father’s Love and the happiness that is ours when we remember.
O my brothers, if you only knew the peace that will envelop you and hold you safe and pure and lovely in the Mind of God, you could but rush to meet Him where His altar is. Hallowed your Name and His, for they are joined here in this holy place. Here He leans down to lift you up to Him, out of illusions into holiness; out of the world and to eternity; out of all fear and given back to love.
