Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.

This program focuses on one of the Course’s central teachings: the shift from perception of form to unified perception, or vision, where everyone and everything is recognized as the same–a reflection of our ultimate Oneness. For this shift to occur, we must be willing with the Holy Spirit’s help to move beyond separate interests to shared interest or purpose. This theme is explored in the context of the Course’s roots in Plato’s insights 2500 years ago into the transition from appearances to reality. Freud’s contribution in uncovering another layer between appearances and our true reality–the ego’s hidden layer–is also recognized. Extended discussion in the last half of the program, using the metaphor of the orchestra, provides a helpful way of thinking about the change to shared purpose in practical terms.

It is the total sound of the orchestra in which each member of the orchestra is an integral part that is important. An orchestra is not made up of soloists. That is not a good orchestra. It is a total blending–a shared interest–into one sound. That is what the Sonship is.
