Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.

Using the Stoic philosopher Epictetus’ statement, “Act your part with honor” as its basis, the seminar revolved around forgiveness as our “special function.” This great philosopher, along with the Stoic Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, and A Course in Miracles, urge us to act with honor in all our relationships, regardless of how the world seems to be treating us. Jesus tells us: “Walk you in glory, with your head held high, and fear no evil” (T-23.in.3:1). Thus we remember our true innocence and safety, shared with all people. This allows us not to be tempted by the “evils” of the world, but to see beyond them to the call for love that is in each of us, God’s glorious Son.

In light, you see it [specialness] as your special function in the plan to save the Son of God from all attack, and let him understand that he is safe, as he has always been, and will remain in time and in eternity alike. This is the function given you for your brother. Take it gently, then, from your brother’s hand, and let salvation be perfectly fulfilled in you. Do this one thing, that everything be given you.
